The community of Bryans Road is part of Charles County, located in southwestern Maryland. Bryans Road is home to a current population of about 7,200 people, covering a land area of more than 15 square miles.
Bryans Road was named for Oliver Norris Bryan, a 19th-century farmer and scientist. Commercial establishments sprang up in the 1920s, when the name “Bryans Road” first appeared on maps. The construction of Indian Head Highway during World War II brought new traffic to the area, and Bryans Road became an established bedroom community by the 1960s. Its the site of Marshall Hall and Mount Aventine, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
